At the VSCAN, we provide specialty Dentistry services on an outpatient basis performed by Dr. Josée Marcoux, DVM, IPSAV, DES (dental care). In order to request an outpatient dental procedure with Dr. Marcoux, we require a completed Request Form which you can fill out below.

*NOTE: Pre-Anesthetic medications are strongly recommended for each patient undergoing surgery as it reduces anxiety and allows for better pain control and improves patient recovery.

THE PROCESS

Once a completed request form has been received, Dr. Marcoux will contact you to review the case and provide an estimate.

The complete history, blood work, and radiographs must be received by the VSCAN prior to the procedure for pre-anesthetic screening.

Pre and post operative medications are to be dispensed by the referring clinic. The VSCAN team will contact the clinic ahead of the surgery date if they have not received confirmation of this.

Dr. Marcoux will conduct a brief consultation with the owner the morning of the procedure at the time of drop-off.

Every outpatient specialty dental procedure is overseen by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist as well as a specially-trained Veterinary Anesthesia Technician.

Once the procedure is complete, Dr. Marcoux will call the owner and go over discharge instructions over the phone.

When the pet is ready to go home, one of our team members will contact the owner to set up a discharge appointment with one of our Technicians.

Prior to leaving, the client will be required to pay the VSCAN directly for the surgical services.
 

Dr. Marcoux will send the procedure report and a copy of the discharge instructions to the referring veterinarian. A follow up exam is recommended to be performed at the referring clinic 2 weeks after the procedure. Any post-operative concerns will be addressed by the referring veterinarian and, should the need arise, Dr. Marcoux can be contacted directly.
