Each and every neurological patient that comes through our doors gets a neurological examination by one of our specially trained doctors. Part of this neuro exam is an evaluation of the cranial nerves. If a patient is showing signs of brain disease, these quick tests can help us localize which area of the brain is affected. Obviously we don't share this so that you can try and diagnose your animals but to help you understand what is happening if a veterinarian starts "swatting" at your pets face, or "touching" the corners of their eyes. It is all an important part of helping your animals tell us what is wrong when they don't have the words.
